The Happiest Day EVER

The Big Guy and I celebrated our wedding on Saturday and it was truly the most wonderful day ever! The weather was a perfect 79 degrees, with a nice breeze, no humidity and lots and lots of sunshine. I wish there was a way to appropriately describe how perfect and happy the day was for us.

The wedding festivities kicked off on Friday night with a "Friends and Family Dinner" at Bertucci's Restaurant with about 40 people. We ate and laughed and enjoyed each other's company and at the end of the evening five of our favorite people (Rachel, Heidi, Blake, Steve and Dan) gave roasts and toasts that were sentimental, hilarious and completely incredible. Joe and I floated home.

Saturday we woke up bright and early to await the arrival of Rosario, our Justice of the Peace who would make our marriage legal in the Commonwealth of Massachusetts. We got ready, and my parents and brothers arrived, followed by Joe's parents and brothers and then Rosario. We started the ceremony at 8:45 and everything was legit by 9:00. It was a beautiful ceremony, full of all the right words and lots of love. I was surprised by how special the ceremony was to me. I had imagined the "legal" portion of getting married wouldn't be an emotional occasion for me, but it was really a moment to hold dear.

After our quick ceremony we parted ways. Joe headed to Rowes Wharf to meet a water taxi and the caterers to bring our picnic lunches to the Island and I went with my parents and brothers to Long Wharf to pick up the public ferry to the Island - to meet the Rangers and make sure everything was in it's proper place. Shortly after Joe and the food arrived, all of our guests started arriving. And quickly we were enjoying the happiest day of our lives. It was so wonderful to be surrounded by all the people we love. My favorite moment of the day was when Joe and I stood under the two big trees for our ceremony and looked out and saw all of our guests smiling at us and radiating love. I felt complete peace and more full of joy than I have ever felt in my life. Mike's welcome and opening words were warm and eloquent and our vows to each other were heartfelt and magical. It was the perfect day. And now we are married.

Our photographer took some 700 photos, so more will definitely follow. I just wanted to get a few from Heidi's camera up ASAP for those of you who read the blog and weren't able to make it to the wedding. We missed you.

I love you, Hol! I'm so glad that it was the perfect day. For me it was a day of distraction, trying *not* to think about all the fun I missed. I hope your first week of being married is total bliss! LYF, H
